Last week, Mike Spicer, Managing Director of APCL A&P Falmouth was delighted to represent the APCL Group at a meeting hosted by the Rt Hon Rachel Reeves at Number 11 Downing Street.

The purpose of the meeting was to unlock investment opportunities for the Cornish region, which in turn would support the creation of new jobs across the South West. The meeting was attended by representatives from Cornish businesses, business groups and Members of Parliament.

APCL A&P Falmouth and other Cornish businesses met with the National Wealth Fund, UK Export Finance, the British Business Bank and other Government backed financial institutions to discuss how they can access millions of pounds of investment for their companies.

The meeting followed the Chancellor’s visit to Cornwall in Summer 2025, during which the Chancellor visited APCL A&P Falmouth.

Mike Spicer, MD APCL A&P Falmouth said: “APCL A&P Falmouth is a centre of excellence for defence, offshore vessels, cruise ships and ferries and is a busy working port – handling over 100,000 tonnes of product annually and welcomes 56 cruise calls every year.

“The meeting provided a vital platform to promote the importance of APCL A&P Falmouth to Cornwall and the wider South West economy and also the chance to explore investment opportunities for the entire region.

“The Rt Hon Rachel Reeves created a fantastic forum for future growth and I look forward to working with the Chancellor and her teams and other attending businesses to continue the momentum.”
